Final Tactics
DESCRIPTION OF FINAL TACTICS
Final Tactics is a turn-based strategy game. The goal is to destroy all the red enemy units. Each unit gets a turn independently. The frequency of the turns depends on its speed parameter. One command (attack or defend) and one move is allowed per turn. Click the active unit (in the highlighted cell) and select a location to move to or a target for an attack, both of which have to be within the acceptable range for the unit. The movement range is shown in green color and the attack range in red (their size depends on the type of unit).
You can also right-click a unit to see some of its vital statistics or select to see its full Unit Status. If the unit belongs to the player and is currently acting its turn, two additional commands are available: DEFEND and WAIT. Choosing to wait allows a unit to get its next turn faster (the fewer actions it has performed up to that point, the sooner it will get it). Choosing to defend will activate an energy shield around the unit, which absorbs 50% of the damage done to it, until its next turn. The unit cannot defend if it has already attacked during the current turn, and vice versa.
The effectiveness of an attack depends on the units involved. An AstroWing, for example, deals 30% more damage to a NovaTank and receives 30% less damage from it. Strengths/weaknesses and weapon damage statistics can be seen in the Unit Status. With every new turn, there is a small chance that reinforcements will arrive for one of the armies. Keeping the right alt key pressed will display the color-coded Hit Points of all units, going from green to red as the damage increases. Pressing backspace will display the expected order in which all the units on the map will get their turn. This can assist in decision making - use it to your advantage!
